Get to know Dafna

Dafna Kronental is a certified Psychotherapist, Counsellor, yoga and mindfulness instructor. She brings a holistic and client-centred approach to her work combining talk therapy with evidence-based experiential, somatic and mindfulness practices. These methods draw on Body-oriented Focusing techniques, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Gestalt and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).

Dafna is guided by the latest neurobiological research exploring the mind-body connection, attachment therapy as well as relational models that offer the potential for awareness, healing, authentic living and self-empowerment.

“Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know”
– Pema Chodron
Dafna Kronental Psychotherapist Counsellor

Known for her warm, empathetic and down-to-earth manner, Psychotherapist & Counsellor Dafna inspires an open, honest and compassionate space. She will help you navigate life’s many challenges and learn how to relate to yourself and others in conscious and transformative ways.

She is a passionate advocate of the belief that by healing ourselves we contribute to the greater healing of our world. Dafna has a range of experience working in welfare, refugee and educational agencies both locally and overseas.

Dafna’s Quick Grounding Tips

“We spend the majority of our time in our heads and disconnected from our physical, present-moment experience. ‘Grounding’ practices can help us access the supportive resources naturally available to us that restore a sense of equilibrium and balance.

Notice when the mind is overactive and rather than trying to fix or work things out, become aware of your breath and physical body. Observe the emotions, feelings and sensations alive in you right now and attempt to hold your experience with openness, curiosity and compassion. Connect to your senses, let your weight sink into the support of the ground or your seat and check in with your body. Are you hungry? Thirsty? Tired? Busting for the toilet? Need a break from the screen or maybe a hug? Make a regular habit of addressing your body’s needs.”

Couples Therapy With Dafna

In addition to working with individuals, Dafna holds space for couples in bravely sharing their vulnerabilities and personal narratives with the intention of disrupting unhelpful dynamics and improving communication.

By creating a safe, collaborative space for both partners to be heard, her aim is to help couples discover ways to deepen their intimacy, repair the past & move forward constructively in their relationship.

I agree with Terry Real’s perspective that our intensely individualistic, “me first” culture has taken a toll on our relationships. As humans, we all need to feel a sense of connectedness in relationships.

With this in mind, we need to develop an attitude of teamwork, treating the couple as an “ecosystem” in which both partners live. Since a couple is intrinsically interconnected, one partner’s experience impacts the other, and visa versa.

Working with this idea, I often take a solution-focused approach in suggesting that partners ask one another, “What do you need from me, in order for you to be able to fulfil what need?”

Working together to find a way forward not only builds an attitude of collaboration, but creates a sense of emotional safety that both partners need to develop greater intimacy.
