We wish you a… Our honest wishes for you, at this time of year.

This time of year is often full of wishes of good will. Folks wishing you a “Merry Christmas” and a “Happy New Year”. But as ~nice~ as that is, sometimes we need some well wishes that are a little meatier, that help us cling onto something precious or hopeful or beautiful for the future, in light of all the challenges and hardships we may currently face. So we decided to put together a few of our own wishes of good will, that will hopefully resonate with you, wherever you’re at…

If you feel lonely…

– recognise that being with people and connecting meaningfully with them can be challenging at times. Our life goes in phases, and there may be periods where you feel incredibly isolated and alone. But know that the world is throbbing with people who will know you, see you and will love you. You may not meet them all at once, or even meet them now. It may not be hundreds of people but it will be real, genuine people whom you need and who will need you. May the new year offer you chance introductions, deep conversations and moments of real connection.

If you are grieving…

– soften into the idea that grief cannot exist without love. And the loss of someone you love is real, brutal and life-altering. However, you can move forward with your grief. You can let your love exist forever in exquisite tribute for how much and how real you love. You can make new memories and lean into new experiences, all the while, carrying your past memories and experiences with enduring reverence. May the new year offer you the opportunity to sit with your grief, to be kind and gentle with yourself, and to bravely move forward into a life that is meaningful and hopeful.

If you feel lost…

– let yourself be lost and marvel in the unknown. Society often gives the impression that everyone knows what they are doing and have everything in their life sorted. The truth is that we’re all fumbling around in the dark, in one way or another. It’s okay to not know what you’re doing and to not know exactly what you want. In fact, it’s human. May the new year offer you opportunities to adventure, experiment and play, and within those moments, may you catch a glimpse of a pursuit, value or sensation that will help you find your way.

If you feel anxious…

– understand that our brains & bodies are programmed to protect us. But sometimes they take it too far and overwhelm us with reasons we should worry and be fearful of unknown outcomes or experiences that definitely won’t kill us. Life is going to happen, whatever way it unfolds, whether we worry about it or not. Not everything is controllable. Not everything is important. May the new year offer you opportunities to pause and take some deep breaths, and to become curious about your anxious thoughts – perhaps considering how these thoughts can be transformed to some that are gentler, kinder and more helpful.

If you feel hopeless…

– please hold on. Life is an incredible cacophony of pain and joy, loss and discovery, numbness and overwhelm. Your current situation and experience is a brief snapshot in a never ending flow of what has been and what will be – however permanent it may feel at the moment. Think of little things, however small, that bring you joy or love or hope. Attend to those things. Seek them out. And may the new year offer you ever increasing moments attending to joy, love and hope, so that you may watch them multiply before your eyes and be reminded of the strength, patience & bravery it took to never give up.

If you feel uninspired…

– it’s okay. There will be periods of life where you don’t feel particularly motivated or inspired. This may be because you’re burnt out or bored, or perhaps the work or people you’re surrounded by no longer align you to a sense of purpose or meaning. As a human being, you are always changing, morphing and growing, which means that the things that inspire and motivate you will also change. May the new year offer you clarity and purpose regarding your values and priorities, and offer plentiful opportunities for you to discover the people, work and experiences that fill you with inspiration.

If you feel overwhelmed…

give yourself permission to take the weight off. This life can be suffocating, with so much pressure to be a certain way, and to do certain things, and to excel, and prosper and thrive. Your worth is made up of so much more than just your achievements. Be gentle with yourself, especially in those moments when you feel like you don’t have your shit together. May the new year give you space to find stillness and presence, to recognise what really matters and what doesn’t, and to meet yourself with kindness and compassion in those moments of struggle and overwhelm.

If you feel behind in life…

– understand that modern society infers life runs against a social clock. Guess what, it doesn’t? Some people start strong in their careers or relationships and find themselves unhappy later down the track, and start again from scratch. Others spend many years searching and sampling relationships and experiences, and find a good thing later in life that sticks until the end. There is no “right” way to do life. We are all so different and have to do our thing and make our discoveries against the unique timeline of our own lives. May the new year relieve you of the social and internal pressures that force you into believing you’re behind in life. You are exactly where you need to be to live the life you were made to live.

From everyone at Indigo, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a New Year pulsing with joy, growth and fulfilment. We are grateful for you all. x
